Source Searching Pt. 2

Finding sources is easy the hard part is getting in contact.  Being a student journalist sources to tend to ignore our attempt to contact, whatever the reason this only adds more stress and anxiety to a student journalist.

Sources have never been one of my strengths, I see them as my biggest weakness. The most important lesson I have learned during this semester would be, "rolling with the punches." For this story, I obtained one in-person interview.

Yes, the lack of credible sources can affect how an article is perceived. Not having been able to make contact with anyone who had expertise in my topic made it difficult to continue writing my story without having stress.

I attempted to replace my one missing interview with credible sources from articles and city documents that talked about future changes.

I learned that not having sources does not mean that my work is not worthy. In fact, I become prouder for the fact that I found a way to make sure I turned in an article that I was proud of.

The route I took was not at all my plan or an ideal way to go, but being a journalist involves an immense amount of adaptability. If I am not able to change the direction of a story or work with I have I don't think I'll make it very far in this career path.
